Thanksgiving…A Day To Give Thanks
Today is Thanksgiving in the United States, the day originally set aside for giving thanks. When I decided to write this blog, the old song Give Thanks came to mind. Give thanks with a grateful heart. Give thanks…
What are you thankful for today? Are you taking time today to count your blessings? We have so much to be grateful for in this country. Even those who are “poor” in this country probably have more than many people in struggling countries.
Some Things to be Thankful for today:
Do you have a roof over your head? Be thankful!
Do you have central heat? Be thankful! Even if you keep it colder than you like, you are still not out in the elements, so, Be Thankful!
Do you have electricity for lights and electronics? Be Thankful!
You’re reading this, so you have eyes. Be Thankful!
You have internet access. Be Thankful!
Did you eat today? Be thankful! Not everyone gets food every day.
Is your table laden with goodies? Be REALLY thankful. Some people are standing in line at soup kitchens today hoping there’s enough left for them to get a meal.
Are you with friends or family today? Be Thankful! Some people are alone today.
Do you have children? Be Thankful – and give them an extra hug! Many couples long for children and can’t have them, and others have lost children for one reason or another and feel that loss every day.
Is your spouse still with you? Be Thankful! Many have lost their spouse and are alone most days.
Do you have a car? A TV? A cell phone? Be Thankful! I grew up in a time when not everyone had a car or TV. Many can’t imagine that today. We walked, took buses and played with friends and family instead of watching TV or being on a cell phone. Sometimes I long for those simpler days…but I am thankful to have a car and TV, and a cell phone.
I could go on for pages and pages.
